The Parma Seminole Youth Football & Cheer Organization (PSYF), a non-profit organization, has been providing a youth football and cheer program in our communities of Parma, Parma Heights, and Seven Hills for more than 15 years. This organization offers coed flag football for kindergarten-1st grade, coed tackle football for 2nd grade-6th grade and coed cheerleading for kindergarten – 6th grade. OHIO GRIDIRON YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
PSYF is a part of the Ohio Gridiron Youth Football Association. We abide by all their guidelines and by-laws. PSYF follows the strict by-law that every tackle player must weigh-in/check-in before the start of every game. For ALL players safety we follow by-law 10.8, that any player exceeding a specified weight can not advance or carry the ball and will be placed as a line only player. Each team has a specified weight restriction. Please see ohiogridiron.com for all by-laws.
EQUIPMENT CONTRACT & DEPOSIT
Prior to your tackle football player or cheerleader receiving equipment, an equipment contract & deposit are required, check or money order. This is only a deposit and will be cashed. The deposit will be returned once all equipment is returned at the end of the season.
MORE THAN 1 TEAM PER GRADE LEVEL: FORMATION OF TEAMS
In the case of registration numbers exceeding the max number allowed per single grade/team, 2 or more teams will be formed. The process of forming multi teams will be done with a draft. The draft will consist of an evaluation of the players by a panel of non-partial observers. Once the evaluation is complete, the observers will create 2 or more teams equal in ability as possible, to promote education, development and skills.
Flag Football (K-1st)
The Parma Seminoles Youth Football & Cheer offer coed flag football for grades Kindergarten- 1st Grade. Our flag games are played 5 vs 5 on a shortened field, that is a “no contact” game. Instead of tackling the ball carrier, the defensive players attempt to pull the flags off the ball carriers belt. Our flag league focuses on the basic fundamentals of the game of football through age appropriate skills and drills. The Seminoles focus is developing football players with a focus on safety.
Practice days will be dictated by coaches per team. Games are played on Thursday’s.
All flag coaches receive certifications and training in safety, concussion, and cpr/first aid. All Coaches are certified background checked.
Cheer
(K-6th)
PSYF offers coed cheerleading for grades Kindergarten- 6th grade.
Our mission is to build community, lifelong friendships and teamwork through our youth cheerleading. SYF Cheer focuses on basic fundamentals and integrity of the sport to ensure our cheerleaders are ready for the next level in the sport and life. Most importantly, we are here to have fun! Our program is designed to introduce the sport of cheerleading to the girls that will be in the grades of K thru 6 for the 2022-23 school year.
Practice days will be dictated by the coaches, per team. We cheer at games on Thursday’s/Saturday’s. Competition date: September 29th in Revere <practice requirements are subject to change based on team needs>
All Cheer coaches receive certifications and training in safety, concussion, and cpr/first aid. All Coaches are certified background checked.
Rookie Tackle- 2nd grade
PSYF offers coed Rookie Tackle for 2nd grade athletes. Rookie Tackle is a modified game to introduce tackle football to youth players. Rookie Tackle serves as a bridge between flag football and full-field tackle football. The game is played on a shortened field consisting of 7 vs 7 player match up. All athletes are in full pads for play. The athletes are taught proper skill, techniques and fundamentals for the game of football as well as using the latest tackling & blocking training. The Seminoles focus is developing football players with a focus on safety.
Practice days will be dictated by coaches. Games are played on Saturday.

Freshman Tackle - 3rd grade
PSYF offers coed tackle for 3rd grade. Our 3rd grade team is known as our Freshman Team. Athletes play a 9 vs 9 match up on a full size field. Players learn the fundamentals and techniques of the game through hard work, practice, skills and drills as well as using the latest tackling & blocking training. The Seminoles focus is developing football players with a focus on safety. The program will teach players the fundamentals to create safe habits as well as discipline, leadership & teamwork on and off the field.
Practice days will be dictated by coaches. Games are played on Saturday.

The Seminoles focus is developing football players with a focus on safety. The program will teach players the fundamentals to create safe habits as well as discipline, leadership & teamwork on and off the field.
